Backstory

Photographer Maria Sturm sees legal systems such as the Ecuadorian constitution as a last chance for us all to get our act together. The South American country is the only country in the world that has declared Nature to be an independent legal entity in its constitution. Assuming that we are all part of a greater whole, in which humans have no more rights than Nature itself, is based on the realization that we humans are also just part of Nature.

Find out more about Maria Sturm, the riot in Intag Valley and the ambivalence of the energy transition in this article.
